This week, October 30 – November 3, is National Veterans Small Business Week. NVSBW was created to honor Veteran entrepreneurs who continue to serve our country by starting businesses, creating jobs and fueling economic growth.
With more than 27 million small businesses in the United States, small businesses are critical to our nation's economy, employing over half of the country's private-sector workforce.
U.S. Veterans are an integral part of this landscape. Veterans own and operate nearly one-tenth of small businesses in the United States. These businesses generate more than $1.4 trillion in receipts every year and employ almost 6 million workers.
The SBA has programs to assist Veteran business owners in obtaining the financing they need to start or expand their operations. In 2016, the total number of SBA loans to veterans went up more than 4 percent from the previous year; and, for the second year in a row, 7(a) and 504 lending to this group surpassed $1.36 billion.
Texas has the second largest number of Veteran-owned businesses in the U.S., with over 8 percent of the nation's total, and Community Business Finance is dedicated to helping those businesses in Texas and Louisiana grow. We have the knowledge and experience to be your partner in securing an SBA loan to finance your business goals. Community Business Finance is thankful to the service men and women who have given so generously to our country.
