• Support Veteran-Owned Businesses During Military Appreciation Month

This May, Americans celebrate National Military Appreciation Month. Started by Congress in 1999, this month allows the nation the opportunity to publicly demonstrate its appreciation for the sacrifices and successes made by present and past service members. In addition to Memorial Day (May 28), May honors our military with Loyalty Day (May 1), Military Spouse Appreciation Day (May 11), and Armed Forces Day (May 19).

America's military Veterans play an important role in stimulating economic growth in its local communities. Veterans own and operate nearly one-tenth of small businesses in the US, and these businesses generate more than $1.4 trillion in receipts every year and employ almost 6 million workers.

A business qualifies as veteran-owned as long as at least 51% is owned and controlled by an individual or individuals in the following groups:

    • Honorably discharged veterans
    • Active Duty Military service members eligible for the military's Transition Assistance Program (TAP)
    • Active Reservists and/or active National Guard Members
    • Current spouse of any veteran, Active Duty service member, Reservist, National Guard member, or the widowed spouse of a service member who died while in service or as a result of a service-connected disability.

Community Business Finance is grateful to the service men and women who have given so generously to our country, and we are dedicated to helping them grow their businesses in both Texas and Louisiana. We are proud to partner with community lenders in offering SBA loans to veteran entrepreneurs.
